I love Christmas, New Years, Halloween and frankly any holiday that gives us an excuse to celebrate. But now, my favorite time of the year is the entire month of January. Why? Because an amazing charity created “Veganuary Month.” “Veganuary is a charity inspiring people to try Vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year.”
As a vegan myself, I love inspiring others to at least try and eliminate meat or animal by-products for at least one day. My preference would be indefinitely but its a start. I first read about Veganuary in a Huffington Post article written in 2016. I was so excited because I was considering ditching my 20+ years as a vegetarian and turning vegan. In this article, you can find all the information about the creators and charity that started in the UK.
The most amazing information I took from the article wasn’t the health updates from the participants. I already knew the benefits of a plant-based/vegan diet. But rather the fact that “Veganuary 2015 saved the lives of 1,596,180 animals.” Can you imagine if we went vegan for 2, 3 or more months out of the year? The amount of suffering we would not inflict to these animals.
The research and findings of going plant-based are extremely beneficial. There are athletes performing better than ever before despite their age just from changing their diets to plant-based. If you google famous athletes, celebrities or models, you get an inspiring and eye-dropping list of beautiful and fit people.
I have to say that I have never felt better or had as much energy as I do now. Even though I was a vegetarian since I was 18, getting rid of the cheese has made a HUGE difference. I love how I feel and I especially love how this community if growing and helping each other out. There are so many vegan events each year and now with Veganuary taking over January and November 1st celebrated as Vegan Day, the skies the limit. I can’t wait to see the evolution of our community in the coming years.
Have you ever tried or thought about going vegan? If so, leave a comment or send me an email and I will answer as best as I can. Veganuary ROCKS!
