Skin Laundry and The Amazing Facial.
The Skin Laundry inside my gym was recently having a promotion for new customers to come in and try out a 15-minute laser and light facial. Doing some research on the company I discovered that it is cruelty-free and has a great reputation and positive reviews. I also investigated a little bit more about this unique light and laser concept by going to Skin Laundry’s website. According to their website: “Our revolutionary treatment administers the perfect dose of laser and light to deep clean skin every time, dramatically improving it over time. The treatment is so easy–skin looks refreshed from the moment you walk out the door. No makeup necessary.”
I was eager to see if I too could walk out of that clinic proudly wearing my “No Makeup” face. Upon arriving, I was kindly greeted by one of the staff members and was quickly introduced to all the forms that had to be completed before walking into my facial. I was then given a facial cloth to clean my face or I could also have the choice of using any of their facial wash gels instead. The nurse then called me in and explained a little bit about the procedure and the company itself. Since this was considered a medical procedure it was all done in a professional manner. The nurse pulled my hair back with a headband and placed goggles over my eyes and asked if I was concerned about any particular area of my face…”ALL OF IT!” was my response.
She began to explain that I would feel a faint pain and experience a unique smell but that I shouldn’t worry because it was the laser vaporizing the dirt out of my skin and removing the bacteria. From the moment she started, I began to experience this weird sensation as though someone was using needle-size electrical pulses on my face. And then came that awful smell. It was a combination of burnt hair and burnt skin; it was not in any way an appealing scent. I knew that my skin wasn’t burning because the pain was tolerable but the smell was atrocious! She went over my face twice with the laser and then put on this amazing cold gel that made my face feel so refreshed. She explained that I would now see bright red flashes which would be the Light portion of the procedure. When the flashes came on, I felt a bit of heat but there was no longer that peculiar scent. She then wiped my face and put some products on and bid me adieu.
The procedure itself felt very quick, I almost felt as if I was in there less than 15 minutes. Overall, I felt and looked great; my skin felt a little bit tighter and brighter and I had a bit of glow shining through. Even my husband made a comment once I got home and that rarely happens! I was really impressed with this facial and I would definitely go try it once more even if I have to put up with that awful burnt hair smell. My skin did lose the glow after a few hours but that had nothing to do with the procedure and all to do with my kids. My smile was turned into a frown but at least I did walk out of the clinic with a great “Make Up” free face!
