I love the new trend of that glittery sequin that we see everywhere. From dresses, skirts, and shirts to pillows, purses, backpacks and even journals. This trend, however, made a comeback with one new addition: interchangeable colors. Yes, if you slide your hand up, down or side to side, you will be able to make figures, symbols and even write messages with its multitude of colors. Now, that particular interchangeable pattern-style is, in my opinion, better for the younger generation. Especially when it comes to fashion, I think it gives it that youthful and fun attribute that is better worn by tweens and younger kids. For example, my 7-year-old daughter has a shirt with a heart that is made up of sequins. When you slide your hand up the heart has a big smile but when you slide your hand down the heart turns into a frown. A great way for her to express her feelings throughout the day…and since she’s a girl, it is constantly changing.
But don’t get me wrong, I really like the interchangeable sequins but for me, it would be on a decorative pillow or a fun journal. The decorative pillows give your living area a really hip and fancy vibe and it’s also a great way to amuse your boredom. Now when it comes to regular sequins, even if it involves a multitude of colors blending together like one big happy family…I am all in. I personally own this mermaid sequins dress that always gets me great compliments and I genuinely LOVE to wear it. I love how it’s flashy and sexy and fun and makes a great statement for nightwear. So many stores are also on the sequins bandwagon; I stepped into Forever 21 and there were sequin shirts, skirts, pants, headbands, and book-bags all over the stores in a variety of colors. I almost took the plunge and purchase one of each but then I remembered that my daily yoga pants and sweatshirts won’t compliment the trend.
Let me know your thoughts regarding this trend and if it’s something that you would wear or if you rather leave it for the younger generation.
