She looked over my form to see my major concerns and then began putting the tiny needles into my face. As she began, I felt a bit uncomfortable. Some areas were painless while others felt a little sting. The slight pain of some areas diminished within a few minutes but I still felt very tense. Surprisingly, I never felt the needle in my neck, which apparently is an uncomfortable trigger point for others.
Since I had also explained in my forms that I suffered from low back pain, she put some needles in trigger points to alleviate that specific area. The needles went into my ankles, wrist, and top of the foot. I was supposed to have additional ones in my leg but I was wearing tight jeans and could not roll them up. Only one little needle was really painful upon first entry but she quickly removed it and the sensation went away.
I waited around 20 minutes with the needles inserted. It was supposed to feel relaxing and zen-like but I could not relax. It wasn’t the actual needles but my inability to move. After 20 minutes, the acupuncturist came in and removed all of them in less than 5 minutes. I was so relieved and I actually looked relaxed and calm. My face had a different tone probably due to increased blood flow.
Now, it must be noted that this is not like Botox where you might see immediate results. It would take about 4-6 session of Cosmetic Acupuncture to notice firmer, younger looking skin.
