Imagine a yoga mat that is created with alignment cues so that you do every asana pose correctly, that is what creators of LIFORME have done. When I first researched this particular mat on the internet, I was fascinated by their unique design. Sure, there are a lot of brands that create mats with amazing prints, colors, and symbols but none really help correct your form. That’s when I knew I had to order myself a Liforme mat and tested out.
Surprisingly, the shipment was quite fast which was great because I was really eager to give this mat a try. Now, I will have to start with the only thing I did NOT like about this mat – the smell. The mat comes in a terrific carrier but once you unwrapped the mat, the most unpleasant smell penetrated the room. I immediately aired out my mat outside a few hours before attending my yoga class. As I unwrapped my mat in class, the smell was still there. I quickly sprayed my lavender yoga spray as to not distract the other class members but I could not stop thinking about the smell and wondered if others could smell it too. This experience lasted a few yoga classes until I decided to leave my mat outdoors (away from the sun) to air out for a few days. It finally worked! The smell was gone and now I could go back to my yoga practice without the constant distraction of that horrific scent.
The good….oh, there are so many pros to this mat. Let’s start off with the grip, amazing! I hated when other mats curled or wrinkled during certain poses but not this Liforme mat. It held nice and straight the entire class without any movement or wrinkle. The mat laid out flat and my feet gripped perfectly without the use of yoga socks. That was such a nice surprise! I was able to hold Dancer’s Pose, Warrior III, Tree Pose and other balancing poses in such a solid way. Loved it!
The cushioning was perfect, not too much, not too little, just right. The best part of the mat – the alignment cues. I found myself looking at the grid and repositioning my body for proper alignment. The asana poses felt better because I was finally using the proper form. I really loved coming out of each pose and repositioning my body in alignment with the grid. This mat is a true genius! I can’t believe no one ever thought of doing this before.
The mat is also planet friendly, made of non-toxic material and PVC free. You have several color options and different yoga mat styles (travel, evolve, love, etc).
